Original Titanium Apple Cards Expiring Soon, But Apple Will Send You A New One

Apple’s first generation Titanium card saw daylight in 2019, and after five years, it is now reaching its expiration date. Apple has launched an initiative to replace the expiring first batch of Titanium cards with new ones for those who signed up for the Apple cards in August 2019.

Some Apple Cards are about to expire, as Apple issues replacements

Apple has been sending out emails to notify first Apple cardholders regarding the upcoming expiration and also the replacement to be followed. Apple’s decision to replace the original cards ensures a seamless process without gaps and reordering. The replacement cards would be sent out to the same billing address as the first card. According to MacRumors, the following email was sent out to original Apple Card holders;

We’re sending a replacement titanium card to your billing address so you can continue to use it at physical locations. Remember, even without a physical card you can always use your Apple Card at any location that accepts Apple Pay. Your new titanium card will be shipped within 2 weeks from the date of this communication.

You can continue to use your titanium card until it expires or you activate the new one. You can still use Apple Card with Apple Pay and your virtual card number to shop at merchants that don't yet accept Apple Pay by typing in your number from Wallet or using Safari AutoFill.

Since the Apple card’s functionality is not limited to physical alone, it does not limit users from continuing the digital functions while they await the replacement. Apple not only worked on the timely replacement of the card to maintain cardholders’ privacy and for an uninterrupted user experience but also took a great step towards sustainability.

Apple’s sustainability goal with these cards is a commendable move as Apple mentioned that the replacement cards would come with a prepaid shipping label so that customers can send out their old titanium cards for recycling. This would be aligned with Apple’s commitment to minimize environmental impact.

Take note that the original cards are going to stop working on their expiration date, so cardholders are encouraged to activate their new cards after receiving them. Users did not know the expiration date of their cards as it does not have anything written on it, other than the name of the holder. We will let you guys know as soon as the Apple Card starts arriving to customers.
